Until recently-everything was working fine. In April '22, I got myself a MacBook Air. (SKIP THE INTRO AND ISSUE Part if you want the Solution for the issue: TL DR)
SCROLL REVERSER SLEEP PROBLME UPDATE
I think by now its quite obvious its just a Monterrey thing at this point if everyones having the issue after the monterey update! Hopefully theyll fix this in a future firmware update and wont make us have to buy the next gen macbook.
SCROLL REVERSER SLEEP PROBLME PRO
I did lots of research about the m1 chips and comparisons between m1 air v pro and there definitely isnt a huge difference surprisingly. I had no problems with either of them actually.īut when i bought this mb AIR, it really made me wonder if having no fan really makes a huge difference.
SCROLL REVERSER SLEEP PROBLME PC
Both were running big sur and were quite impressive coming from someone who uses a custom pc on a daily basis. I had a 2015 mbp with i7 16 gb ram and i also had a base model m1 macbook pro last year, both loaned to me by my university. I also feel like my setup is kinda laggy for being m1 with 16 gb ram. After it coming and going a few times i knew something was wrong so i updated my macbook and it never stopped happening. I decided not to update immediately and started browsing safari and within a few minutes i already started having this problem. It came with Monterey preinstalled but after i finished setup i checked the version and had to update to 12.2.1. I just bought a new m1 macbook air a couple weeks ago. I'm pretty committed to finding the culprit as I really don't want to do a factory reset. If you want, you can try this command in terminal to stress all cores on the machine yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & Seems like under load the computation for the mouse position just goes haywire.ĭo you by any chance have SteelSeries exact mouse installed? or Logitech's Logi options or anything else that allows you to alter the mouse acceleration? My suspicion at this point would be a kernel extension that doesn't really fly with the arm silicon. Sure enough booting back up normally, run a stresstest and start working, within 10-20 minutes it's back.
SCROLL REVERSER SLEEP PROBLME SOFTWARE
I can almost 100% confirm at this point that it's a software issue, stresstesting in safe mode and working like normal. Yeah so I basically spend most of the day finally looking into this.

one way I've noticed I can usually force it to happen is viewing a full chart from on chrome.Problem wasn't there in the beginning i'd say it appeared 6-8 months after purchase so that'd be around august - september 2021.Is sporadic most of the time but seems heavy load exacerbates the problem.

sometimes it seems you be fine outside chromium windows and then starts lagging going over chromium browser windows, but definitely not always.Happens with internal trackpad and external bluetooth mouse and external wired mouse.(Although I've experienced weird issues there as well with test-ufo) Happens on internal display and external, hence shouldn't be the refreshrate at least not the timing on the display.Recording the cursor at high fps you can actually see a cursor icon frontrunning the actual cursor almost like inverse ghosting / overshoot on the display. Almost looks like the cursor has its own refresh rate. When it's really bad it's like the feature in cursor settings on windows. Was thinking about turning it in for possible logic board replacement under consumer law. So, continue to do your research, but this is what I suspect is going on.Same issue. The permanent fix requires replacement of that one failed capacitor on your logic board, something that can only be done with specialized equipment and skill. The short term fix is a logic board replacement that is subject to its own failure at any time. In particular I'll point you to this YouTube video by Louis Rossman: If you google "kernel panic 2010 MBP" you'll find all sorts of link regarding the problem. This leads me to suspect a failure in the graphics system, probably caused by the failure of a single, particular capacitor on the logic board. The crash report points to the same cause every time: Sleep Wake Failure.

Eventually, it got to the point where it restarted several time per day. The symptoms you describe – "frequently, crashing restarting. The mid-2010 15" MBP is subject to a common and particular component failure on the main logic board. Unfortunately, I'm going to suggest something you're not gonna like to hear. It sounds to me like you've taken the right steps to mitigate the problem. Sorry to hear you're having this problem with your macBook Pro 15" mid-2010 computer.
